Bathroom Cleaning Supplies

Cleaning a bathroom is a chore no one looks forward to. Too often bathrooms are neglected. Clean it only when you can no longer ignore unsightly dirt and grime buildup. If you don’t want to clean your bathroom often, preventive maintenance is essential. Wipe down the bathroom after each use to prevent water stains and soap buildup.

For a clean bathroom, keep the following bathroom cleaning products on hand:

1. Detergents and all-purpose cleaners. You can clean walls and tiles with dishwashing liquid or all-purpose cleaner. Specific tile cleaners are another option. When choosing a tile cleaner, know if your bathroom tiles are porous or non-porous. If your tile is non-porous, you can use a product that contains bleach. But for porous tiles, stick to acid-free products.

2. Mold remover. For mold and mildew that is difficult to remove, you can use a special mold and mildew remover. Chlorine bleach diluted in water can be used in place of mold and mildew remover. Be sure to follow the directions on the bottle.

3. Shower gel. There is a 5-in-1 bathroom cleaner on the market. This gel-based cleaner can be used to: kill bacteria, remove mold and mildew, remove soap buildup, unclog drains, and dissolve stains. If you want to save a few bucks, try this all-in-one cleaner for your bathroom.

4. Glass cleaner. Wipe down bathroom mirrors with a cloth and glass cleaner. This removes water or soap stains from the glass.

5. Metal cleaners and polishes. You can easily wipe bathroom fittings made of metal with a damp cloth. However, use a metal cleaner and polish for copper, stainless steel and other types of metals to restore the shine.

6. Sponge. Color-coded sponges are a must-have for cleaning your bathroom. The sink and bath need one color and the toilet needs another. If possible, buy sponges made specifically for cleaning bathrooms. Never use abrasive pads that will damage the natural finish of sinks, bathtubs and toilets.

7. Toilet brush. Buy a toilet brush with its own holder or container.

8. Tile brush. Plastic tile brushes are ideal for cleaning grout. You can also keep an old toothbrush handy for those hard-to-reach corners.

9. Terry cloth. After washing, wipe bathroom accessories, sinks and bathtubs with a terry cloth. This prevents watermarks from appearing. Make it a habit to always keep an extra cloth in the bathroom so you can wipe down the sinks and fixtures after each use.

10. Latex Gloves. These protect your hands from any chemicals or corrosives found in commercial cleaning products.

11. Dust wiper. For upper walls and ceilings, you can use a dust mop to remove cobwebs and other debris.

12. Plunger. Use a plunger if your toilet, bathtub, sink or drain is clogged. Make sure you don’t use the plunger you used for the toilet to remove clogs in other areas.

A clean bathroom is essential to any healthy home. It is a reflection of your personal hygiene and cleanliness standards. Keeping your bathroom free of dirt, scum, mold, mildew and disease-causing bacteria is as easy as 1-2-3 with the right cleaning products and tools.
